My Story
Music and artistry has always been the expression by which my life was lived, and gratefully it still is today. From performing through dance and song as a child both in community theatres and church platforms to uncovering my love for storytelling and songwriting as I grew older, music has always been the constant that carries me forward.
I believe every story has purpose and beauty, whether that story is full of joy or laden with grief, and that our responsibility as storytellers is to convey these messages to those that may need it.
I have always been an open book, yet for years shy'd away from fully expressing it through music. It felt too raw, a personal diary that I didn't want anyone to see. However, these past few years I have realized the power of the combination of truth, emotion and music and the affect it can have when you fully express your heart through it. It becomes someones comfort, someones celebration, someone's healing or someone's inspiration, this is why I choose to do music.
Growing up, I was introduced to many different types of music. From Gospel, to Country, Classical to Jazz, and Pop and Rock. The room was always filled with sound, but the one sound that always stood out to me was the resonance within Country music. No matter what your mood or situation, there always seemed to be a soundtrack with some twang that would fit the bill!
I began playing Country music in my late years of high school and throughout my young adult life, but never looked at it as something I could pursue full-time until my late 20's. Even though I had been given opportunities to play and perform and even studied music in university, I kept placing music on the back burner over the other things in my life. Nonetheless, I have decided I can't hold it to myself anymore and it's time to pursue the future I've always dreamt of having. Life is a tale of intertwining stories between reality and our dreams, and it's our job to work hard to weave them together.
I can't wait to share my story with you, and maybe even share some of yours if you'll let me.
